Arsenal Stumble at Brentford as EPL Title Lead Shrinks

February 13, 2026

Arsenal’s English Premier League (EPL) charge faltered in West London as a resilient Brentford side secured a 1-1 draw, leaving the Gunners with a four-point lead over Manchester City on Thursday, 12 February.

Despite Noni Madueke’s 61st-minute header, the visitors could not withstand the hosts’ physical approach. Keane Lewis-Potter equalised shortly after, capitalising on a trademark Michael Kayode long throw.

Mikel Arteta’s side appeared unsettled, continuing a recent trend of dropping points when playing after a Manchester City victory. The Gunners missed the presence of the ill William Saliba and injured Kai Havertz, while summer signing Eberechi Eze struggled to impact the game before being substituted.

Reflecting on his team’s inability to manage the Bees’ direct style, Mikel Arteta admitted: “The chaos that is in and around that ball is very, very difficult to defend.”

Brentford manager Keith Andrews praised his team’s “grit” as they maintained their push for European football. While Arsenal remain top, the gap has closed significantly with twelve games remaining.

They must now reset for their clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers to regain their momentum on Wednesday, 18 February.
