Arsenal Close in on £15m Move for Brentford’s Norgaard
Arsenal are on the verge of signing Brentford captain Christian Norgaard in a deal worth up to £15 million, including add-ons.
The Gunners have reportedly tabled an initial bid of £9.3 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially pushing the total fee higher.
The 31-year-old midfielder, a key figure at Brentford since joining from Fiorentina in 2019, has been identified by coach Mikel Arteta as a seasoned option to bolster Arsenal’s midfield. His arrival is set to offset the expected departure of Thomas Partey, whose contract expires next week amid interest from clubs across Europe and Saudi Arabia.
Norgaard, who has made over 120 English Premier League appearances, is eager to make the move to north London, England. The lure of UEFA Champions League football and Brentford’s managerial shake-up following Thomas Frank’s exit have helped pave the way.
Arsenal are also close to finalising deals for Real Sociedad’s Martín Zubimendi and Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga, indicating a busy summer window. Norgaard is expected to bring defensive solidity and leadership, competing for a holding role alongside Zubimendi.
While the deal is yet to be completed, all signs point to a swift conclusion, with personal terms reportedly not a concern.
