Why Ariana Grande Skipped 2018 Emmys Revealed
Despite being expected to attend, Ariana Grande and her fiance, Pete Davidson, opted not to make an appearance at the 2018 Emmy Awards on Monday evening.
Fans were hoping to see the couple at the awards ceremony held at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles. “Saturday Night Live”, in which Davidson performs as a cast member, won an Emmy for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
In a written statement shared with media outlets, Grande’s team said: “Contrary to reports, [Grande] will not be attending the Emmys tonight. [Davidson] has also opted to not attend [in order] to be with her in New York.”
The statement continues: “Given the events of the past couple of years, [Grande] is going to take some much needed time to heal and mend.”
The awards ceremony comes ten days after Grande’s ex-boyfriend, Mac Miller, died of an apparent overdose.
Additionally, the 25-year-old singer continues to struggle with anxiety after 22 people were killed in a terrorist attack last year at her concert in Manchester.
