Ariana Grande Benefit Concert a Huge Success

June 05, 2017

The ‘One Love Manchester’ benefit concert held yesterday in the heart of Manchester, was a roaring success, with thousands of people pitching up to show their support for the victims of the Manchester Attack two weeks ago.

Organised by US popstar, Ariana Grande, the show featured incredible performances by some of the biggest stars in music.

It is believed that more than 50 000 people attended the concert held at the Old Trafford cricket ground.

Miley Cyrus, Justin Bieber, Katy Perry, Pharrell Williams, Coldplay, Robbie Williams, and a host of other artists joined Grande on stage.

Before launching into his 2013 hit, ‘Happy’, Pharrell Williams said that the love and positivity in the city was amazing.

“I’m bowing because despite all the things that have been going on in this place, I don’t feel, or smell, or see any fear…All I feel here tonight is love, resilience, positivity and you know what? I hate to be corny but it actually makes me happy,” he told the crowd.

Katy Perry performed her hit, ‘Roar’, as well as an acoustic version of her song, ‘Part of Me’. She also addressed the crowd, campaigning for love to trump hate.

“It’s not easy to always choose love, is it? Especially in moments like these, right? But love conquers fear and love conquers hate and this love that you choose will give you strength and it’s our greatest power,” she said.

Before the show, there was a minute of silence held for the victims of the London Bridge attack that happened the night before.

Other highlights included a surprise performance by former Oasis frontman, Liam Gallagher, who is from Manchester himself and several performances by Grande, who sang duets with Miley Cyrus, The Black Eyed Peas, and her boyfriend, Mac Miller.

Grande closed the show with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’.

All proceeds of the concert will go to the victims and survivors of the attack.
