August 14, 2018

Legendary soul singer, Aretha Franklin, is reportedly seriously ill with cancer. She is receiving hospice care at her Detroit home, surrounded by family and friends.

The Queen of Soul has been struggling with health issues since being diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2010. Despite health challenges, the 76-year-old has continued to perform.

In February of 2017, the soul singer announced her retirement. She said: “This will be my last year. I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it.”

Earlier this year, Franklin cancelled a series of planned concerts, after being ordered to bed rest by the doctor. She last performed at the Elton John’s AIDS Foundation in November 2017.

Fans from around the world including Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott and the former president of the United States, Bill Clinton, have offered their prayers to Franklin and her family.

Beyonce and Jay-Z dedicated their ‘On The Run II Tour’ performance in Detroit on Monday to the 18-time Grammy winner.
