August 17, 2018

The “Queen of Soul” Aretha Franklin has passed away at the age of 76.

Franklin died from advanced pancreatic cancer on Thursday morning at her home in Detroit, Michigan. She was receiving hospice care from friends and family.

Tributes and condolences have been pouring out from all over to the world for the late gospel singer.

Oprah, Adele, John Legend, former President of the United States Barack Obama, Elton John, Cher and Mariah Carey are a few of the many celebrities that took to social media to share their testimonials for the pop icon.

Barack Obama claimed that if he had to choose an artist whose music he could take to a desert island, it would be Aretha Franklin: “She’ll remind me of my humanity, what’s essential in all of us.”

An all-star tribute concert to Franklin, celebrating her legacy, is scheduled for 14 November 2018, at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
