Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor Arrested

February 19, 2026

In an unprecedented move for the British monarchy, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew, was arrested on February 19, 2026, on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

The arrest took place at Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate on the morning of his 66th birthday.

The investigation, led by Thames Valley Police, centers on allegations that the former Duke shared confidential government information with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein during his tenure as the UK’s special representative for international trade.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright confirmed the move “following a thorough assessment” of documents recently released by the U.S. Department of Justice.

The fallout has reached the highest levels of government and the palace. King Charles III expressed his “deepest concern” in a statement, emphasising that “the law must take its course” and pledging the monarchy’s “full and wholehearted support and co-operation” with the authorities.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer reinforced this sentiment, stating to the BBC that “nobody is above the law.”

While Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, this arrest marks his final fall from grace after being stripped of his royal titles in late 2025.

This is not the first time allegations have been levelled at 66-year-old. He has been accused of sexual abuse in the past. The most high-profile allegation came from Virginia Giuffre, who claimed she was trafficked by Epstein to have sex with the Prince on three occasions starting in 2001, when she was 17.

If charged and convicted of misconduct in public office, the offense carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment.Image Credit: Source
