‘American Horror Story’ Season 7 Casts Lena Dunham
Co-creator of ‘American Horror Story’ Ryan Murphy has announced that Lena Dunham has been cast in the upcoming season.
Last night Murphy tweeted, “Thrilled that my talented friend Lena Dunham is joining the AMERICAN HORROR STORY family. Always wanted to work together, and now we r! [sic]”
Dunham joins a cast of ‘Horror Story’ alumni, including Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson, as well as other newcomers Billie Lourd and Billy Eichner.
The horror anthology series has been running since 2011, with each season exploring a new theme and casting the same actors in completely new roles, with some cast additions. Notable themes have included ‘Murder House’ (2011), ‘Coven’ (2013-14) and ‘Hotel’ (2015-16), for which Lady Gaga won a Golden Globe.
The theme of the new season is yet to be confirmed, but Murphy has mentioned that the US 2016 presidential election will feature.
Dunham is best known as the creator, writer, and star of the HBO series ‘Girls’, for which she has won two Golden Globes, and received seven Emmy nominations.
The 31-year-old star has been involved in numerous controversies throughout her career. In 2014, based on an account in her memoir, ‘Not That Kind of Girl’, she was accused of molesting her sister when they were young children. Both Dunham and her sister vehemently denied this claim.
‘American Horror Story’ season 7 is expected to return to screens in mid-September.
