Alvaro Morata “Happy and Proud” to Join Atletico Madrid
Chelsea striker, Alvaro Morata, has joined Atletico Madrid on loan until the end of next season.
According to a statement released by the La Liga club, the 26-year-old Spaniard – who joined the Blues from Real Madrid in 2017 for £57 million – passed a medical on Sunday, 27 January.
The club explained: “With Morata’s arrival, we add a very talented striker to our club, who has the ability to score with his feet and his head, thanks to his height.”
The striker is no stranger to Atletico: he previously played for their youth ranks before signing with Real Madrid in 2008. Now signed to Chelsea, he has scored 24 goals in 74 appearances for the club.
Morata’s last appearance came after the Blues claimed a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on 5 January, with him scoring both goals.
A delighted Morata commented on the Atletico move: “I’m very happy and proud to be here. I can’t wait to start training, meet my new teammates and play.”
