Alli Destroys Real Madrid

November 02, 2017

Dele Alli has hailed Tottenham Hotspur as “fantastic” after he helped them beat Real Madrid 3-1 in the Champions League yesterday.

The 21-year-old midfielder scored twice, in the 27th and 56th minutes, while Christian Eriksen scored the Spurs’ third goal in the 65th minute.

Their win has catapulted them into the Champions League top 16, with two group stage games to spare.

Elated after the game, Alli said: “We don’t want to just compete with these teams – we want to beat them. I’m happy to get two goals, but more importantly it was a win.”

Real Madrid has not had a good week. Not only did the La Liga giants suffer an embarrassing defeat to newcomers Girona, but, for the first time in five years, they lost a game at the Champions League group stage.

Their coach, Zinedine Zidane, said of their performance: “It wasn’t that we played badly, we just came up against the better team.”

Zidane denies that they are a club in crisis, and insists that Madrid “will turn this situation around”.
