“Alexa, do my Homework”
A young boy was caught by his mother after he used his Amazon Echo smart speaker to do his homework.
Leanne Gormanley heard her son talking to Alexa – the virtual assistant developed by Amazon – but what she did not expect was to find her son, Bryce, cheekily asking the AI for help with his maths.
She stood bemused as the nine-year-old asked aloud several questions, including: “Alexa, what’s eight multiplied by four?”
Gormanley recorded the interaction, then said: “What is going on here?”
To which the grinning boy, unbothered despite being caught red-handed, replied with: “Doing my homework.”
She uploaded the video to her Facebook account last week Wednesday, 9 October. She included the caption: “I would say it’s a fantastic effort [Bryce] … Alexa is NOT how you do your home work [sic] Bryce.”
Since then, the video has gone viral with over two million views, seen 21 000 reactions and shared approximately 32 000 times.
