al-Shabaab Fighters Capture Town in Central Somalia
According to various reports, heavily armed extremist fighters – that are said to part of the al-Shabaab militant group, have taken control of a town in central Somalia.
The capture of the town happened as soon as Somali and African Union troops pulled their military troops out of the town.
The town in question – called Halgan – is situated in the middle of the country, and, according to residents, the al-Shabaab militants moved in swiftly and quickly as soon as the AU and Somali troops pulled out.
In an act of ‘winning’, the militants then raised their black flag above a busy highway in the town, as to announce the capture of the town.
This is the second town in the same region to be taken by the al-Shabaab militants.
al-Shabaab has also started attacking more and more Somali and African Union army bases around the country – upping their efforts to re-capture various towns and villages.
al-Shabaab is affiliated with jihadi terrorist group. Al Qaeda.
