Action Legend and Martial Arts Master Chuck Norris Dies
Hollywood is mourning Carlos Ray “Chuck” Norris, the undefeated karate champion turned action icon, who has died.
After a sudden medical emergency in Hawaii, the 86-year-old film star passed away on Thursday, 19 March.
Norris first achieved screen fame through a legendary combat sequence with Bruce Lee in “The Way of the Dragon”. Encouraged by his student Steve McQueen to take up acting, he became America’s first homegrown martial arts star, headlining 1980s hits such as “The Delta Force” and “Missing in Action”.
He later became a household name as the lead in the nine-season television success, “Walker, Texas Ranger”.
Beyond his signature roundhouse kick, Norris was a prolific author and philanthropist. In recent years, he became a viral sensation through “Chuck Norris facts” – humorous memes celebrating his invincibility that he famously embraced.
Tributes have poured in from family and colleagues. His daughter, Danilee Norris, said: “He may have a warrior exterior, but his heart was so full of love.”
Fellow actor Sylvester Stallone described the star as a “great man” who was “All American in every way.”
He is survived by his wife, Gena O’Kelley, and five children.
