Abel Xavier To Coach Mozambique National Soccer Team
Mozambique’s national soccer team, the Mambas, will soon have a new head coach as the team recently announced that Abel Xavier will be the team’s new manager.
Mozambican born Xavier has made quite a name for himself in international soccer.
He played as a defender for English Premier League club, Liverpool, as well as making 20 appearances on international level for Portugal.
He started his career at Portuguese club Estrela da Amadora in 1990.
Besides playing for Liverpool and Portugal internationally, he also played for other well known clubs across Europe and America including Benfica, PSV Eindhoven, Everton and LA Galaxy.
President of the Mozambican Football Federation, Alberto Simango Junior, made the announcement of 49-year old Xavier as the new national team coach on Monday.
It is not yet clear when Xavier will start his new job.
