A Taste of Sonar JHB confirms move
Seed Experiences have confirmed that A Taste of Sónar in Johannesburg will be moving from the Nasrec Expo Centre to the Sandton Convention Centre.
This decision was made in an effort to ensure the spectacular production of the Pet Shop Boys headlining ‘Electric’ performance according to Sónar Cape Town organisers.
“Having worked closely with the Pet Shop Boys production team over the past few weeks as we prepare for these events, we were collectively unable to overcome certain technical challenges that the venue was presenting, which were not present at the time of the event launch as the Pet Shop Boys ‘Electric’ world tour had not yet been included,” says Blaise Janichon, Operations Manager at Seed Experiences.
“Sandton Convention Centre is far better suited to the requirements of Pet Shop Boys’ ‘Electric’ tour rider and we want to ensure we produce their show as it has been seen and produced worldwide to sold-out audiences,”
The dazzling ‘Electric’ show makes use of innovative stage production, with lighting and set design created in collaboration with Es Devlin, who has worked with Lady Gaga, Kanye West & Jay Z, Take That and the 2012 Olympics’ Closing Ceremony. Attendees can expect cutting-edge audio-visuals, original choreography, four outfit changes and, of course, lots of amazing hits from the iconic UK duo.
A Taste of Sónar in Johannesburg is the teaser event on December 12 ahead of Sónar Cape Town on December 15 and 16, where Pet Shop Boys will headline the Opening Night on December 15. They will also be playing a standalone show in Durban at People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium on December 19.

9.30pm – Pet Shop Boys (UK)
11.45pm – The Bloody Beetroots (Live) (Italy)
