4 Celebs Who Surprisingly Served Time in Jail
Celebrities are just like us plebs: they laugh, they cry, and – occasionally – they indulge in a bit of bad behaviour. However, for some stars, they take the latter too far and end up behind bars for their troubles.
Surprisingly, many celebs with a seemingly squeaky clean reputation have served time in the big house!
Here are four stars who have went to jail:
Martha Stewart
The beloved businesswoman and television personality is renowned for her lifestyle and cooking empire. However, it nearly came crashing down in 2004 after Stewart was sentenced to five months in federal prison – and another five months confined at home – on felony charges related to stock sales.
Fortunately, Stewart bounced back from the brief prison stint, and has not run into any further legal trouble since then.
Tim Allen
Long before his acting career took off to infinity and beyond, the “Toy Story” star ran into trouble with the cops in 1978. Allen – then 25-years-old – was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for drug trafficking, after he was busted for possessing over 650g of cocaine at an airport.
To avoid a lifetime prison sentence, Allen gave up information about other drug dealers in exchange for a reduced sentence of three-to-seven years. In 1981, he was released on parole, and he has never looked back.
Felicity Huffman
Desperate times call for desperate measures – at least, that’s how the “Desperate Housewives” actress apparently viewed it, after paying an admissions consultant $15 000 to have her daughter’s SAT exam answers corrected to gain entry into a prestigious college in 2017.
For her involvement in this college bribing scheme, Huffman was sentenced to 14 days in prison in 2019. Additionally, she was handed a $30 000 fine, 250 hours of community service and one year of supervised release.
Sean Penn
Maintaining a professional attitude was clearly the last thing on the “Milk” star’s mind when he punched an extra on the set of his 1987 film, “Colors”. Penn was sentenced to 60 days in jail, but ultimately served only 33 days.
Since then, the actor has had a few brushes with the law, including nearly being slammed with domestic assault charges by his ex-wife, Madonna.
