January 27, 2020

At least three worshippers have been killed and 13 others injured after two suicide bombers attacked a mosque in northeastern Nigeria on Sunday morning, 26 January.

According to reports, the bombers – allegedly female members of the Boko Haram terrorist organisation – attacked the mosque in the Guduf Nagadiyo neighbourhood in Bulabaulin, Gwoza.

During morning prayers, the bombers apparently detonated their vests near the mosque.

An unnamed security source explained: “Despite their attempts to inflict more damage on lives, they could not gain entry into the mosque, so they ended up exploding outside where there were few persons.”

The source added: “The impact of the two explosions destroyed the mosque, but many people were able to pull out of the rubble.”

Among the confirmed victims include a 12-year-old boy. Meanwhile, those injured in the explosion were taken to local hospitals for treatment.

Neither Boko Hara nor any other terrorism organisation has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
