2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards: Winners

May 09, 2017

The first MTV Movie & TV Awards were held on Sunday evening in Los Angeles, and, by changing the format of the show, MTV made sure to make a big statement on progressive award shows.

Before being rebranded as the MTV Movie & TV Awards, two separate award shows existed for film and television. However, this year, MTV decided to combine the two, recognising work done in both film and television.

MTV also decided to do-away with gender classified awards. For instance, there will be no more ‘best actor’ or ‘best actress’ awards, but simply ‘best actor’ – one for film and one for television.

This year’s winner for Best Actor in Movie went to Emma Watson for ‘Beauty and The Beast’. The Best Actor in a TV Show went to fellow British actress, Millie Bobby Brown, of ‘Stranger Things’.
