2017 Kids’ Choice Sports Awards: Nominees
The 4th annual Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Sports Awards will take place this Sunday, 16 July, at the Pauley Pavilion at UCLA in Los Angeles.
Returning for the third time as host is Seattle Seahawks quarterback, Super Bowl champion, and Ciara’s husband, Russell Wilson.
Speaking to the media ahead of Sunday’s award show, Russell said that viewers can expect an exciting night filled with all your favourite sports stars, and, of course, the infamous Nickelodeon slime!
The Kids’ Choice Sports Awards work on the same principle as the Kids’ Choice Awards, where the kids get to vote for their favourite sports stars.
This year’s nominees include the likes of tennis star Serena Williams, football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, and everyone’s favourite petite gymnast, Simone Biles.
Russell seems excited to return as host, saying that he feels he can spread a positive message to the kids out there.
“I want to give back and make an impact. I think God’s given me an opportunity and I think I have to give it back and teach and love as much as I can…I think this is what our society needs too so it’s been a joy to be able to do the things I get to do [sic],” he said.
