2 Arrested for Bringing Fake Guns into French Airport
Two people who were spotted wielding replica guns at an airport in Paris, France, were swiftly arrested.
Panic broke out at Terminal 2 of Charles de Gaulle airport on Wednesday morning, 26 December, after the duo were seen holding the weapons.
According to a source, a passenger had raised the alarm, saying they had seen “two adults who did not speak French with weapons in a case”.
After passengers were evacuated from the terminal, border police detained the duo. Additionally, a security perimeter was quickly set up, while a bomb squad was already present at the scene dealing with an abandoned bag.
Per the authorities’ report, the guns were believed to be “airsoft” pistols, replica weapons used for sport.
This incident comes after a lone gunman opened fire on Christmas shoppers in Strasbourg – a city located 400 kilometres away from Paris – on 11 December, killing at least four people and injuring 11 others.
